Reflection

This assignment helped me achieve the Decision Making & Production course outcome because it made me think about the choices I made while writing for a specific audience and purpose. My college admissions essay was written for admissions officers, so I had to decide what story would best represent who I am beyond my grades and accomplishments. I chose to write about my dad because I believed that story showed my character, resilience, and the values he taught me. When I analyzed my essay, I realized those choices were intentional and helped me connect with my audience through motivation and pathos. Revising my paper after receiving feedback also helped me better explain why I made those decisions instead of only describing what my essay was about. This assignment showed me that effective writing is not just about telling a story, but about making thoughtful choices that fit the audience, purpose, and genre.
