Reflection On My Unit 1 Essay

Revising my Unit 1 essay helped me understand how feedback and reflection can improve my writing. In my first draft, I had the main ideas about my father’s influence, motivation, and the emotional connection of my story, but I needed to make my analysis clearer and more connected to rhetorical concepts. During the revision process, I focused on improving my explanations of pathos and motivation by adding more details about specific moments and explaining why those moments were meaningful. I also worked on making my paragraphs more organized so that my ideas flowed better for my audience. Through this process, I learned that revision is not just correcting mistakes but making intentional choices to strengthen the purpose and message of my writing. Revising this essay helped me become more comfortable using feedback and making changes that improved the overall effectiveness of my work.

Unit 1 Reflection Assignment

This Revision Techniques assignment helped me better understand the importance of revision as part of the writing process. Before completing this assignment, I often viewed revision as simply correcting grammar mistakes or making small changes to my paper. Through this reflection, I learned that revision requires looking at my writing from different perspectives and making intentional changes to improve my work. The strategies I identified, such as reading my paper aloud, asking another person to review my writing, and starting revisions earlier, helped me understand how I can make my writing clearer and more effective for my audience. I also learned that feedback from others can help me notice problems that I may miss when reviewing my own work. By applying these revision strategies to future assignments, including my ePortfolio, I can become a more thoughtful writer who uses feedback and reflection to strengthen my drafts.
