This page explores how writing functions as a form of power in ENC1101. I reflect on how language can persuade, challenge, and influence, and how understanding that dynamic shaped the arguments I crafted throughout the course.
Reflection
My Unit 1 Rhetorical Analysis helped me understand the connection between writing, identity, and the power of language. While writing this essay, I reflected on how my father’s words, actions, and support shaped the person and writer I am today. I learned that language has the power to influence the way people view themselves and overcome challenges. By analyzing the use of pathos and motivation in my own personal story, I was able to see how writing can communicate values, experiences, and beliefs. This assignment helped me understand that personal experiences and identity can influence the way we write and the messages we share with others. Through this process, I learned that writing is not only a way to communicate information, but also a way to express who we are and how our experiences shape our perspectives.
